Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Civil Design Engineer to join our Cork-based Development Infrastructure team.
Working alongside our senior engineers and project teams, you will contribute to the planning, design and delivery of residential and commercial development projects across Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to further develop their technical expertise while working on high-profile projects with leading private sector clients.
The successful candidate will bring strong drainage and infrastructure design experience together with proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Delivery
- Prepare civil engineering designs for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
- Design foul water, surface water and watermain infrastructure networks.
- Produce drainage strategies, calculations and technical drawings.
- Prepare design reports, specifications and supporting documentation.
- Support planning, tender and construction-stage project activities.
Software & Digital Delivery
- Develop detailed designs using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Undertake drainage network modelling using MicroDrainage or similar software.
- Produce high-quality engineering drawings and BIM-compatible outputs where required.
- Maintain drawing and design quality standards.
Project Support
- Support Senior Engineers and Project Managers in the delivery of projects.
- Attend client meetings, design team workshops and site visits.
- Liaise with local authorities, Uisce Éireann and other project stakeholders.
- Assist with construction-phase queries and technical support activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' relevant civil engineering experience.
- Experience in foul and surface water drainage design.
- Experience in watermain design.
- Experience using MicroDrainage or equivalent drainage modelling software.
- Strong working knowledge of Civil 3D.
- High level of competency in AutoCAD.
- Experience working to Uisce Éireann design and construction standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Full driving licence and availability to attend client offices and sites throughout the Cork region.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within the Irish residential development market.
- Knowledge of planning and development infrastructure processes.
- Experience with 3D modelling software and BIM environments.
- Experience working as part of multidisciplinary design teams.
