About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer for Canada, the Chief Commercial Officer is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the commercial strategy in Canada including building the overall Business Development strategy and execution plan. The CCO will take ownership of the business activities of Egis group in Canada, strengthen the Egis market position, drive differentiation through higher margin activities and grow the revenue. The CCO is primarily concerned with ensuring the integrated commercial success of Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
BD Strategy Definition and Adjustment
- In line with the Group ambition and in close collaboration with the Canada CEO and, define the commercial strategic objectives of each business line across Canada on a yearly basis (including detailed actions plans with formal business development and delivery plans, milestones, reviews, meetings);.
- Monitor the Business Development activity through a cross functional collaboration with Egis global and local Managers;
- Determine necessary changes and set priorities within Canada to accomplish expected results;
- Provide reports to executive committee on a regular basis (monthly and quarterly) regarding the business development activity in Canada;
- Adjust individual deliverables and reallocate resources in order to ensure the business strategy is implemented and goals achieved;
- The CCO for Canada has the responsibility to ensure the coherence of the overall Canadian Strategy with the Egis Business Plan.
Client Pool Management
- Develop portfolio of new clients (especially private contractors and public authorities) & opportunities;
- Get regular feedback on ongoing projects from the COO and service line managers to maintain excellent business relations with existing clients;
- Continually Develop and manage relationships with potential clients, influencers and key stakeholders (which entails creating a Key Account management strategy);
- Ensure full utilization of the CRM and other data analysis tools;
- Maintain contact with decision makers and influencers in key customer organizations;
BD Strategy Implementation
- Continued evolution of the Tender Unit
- Jointly responsible for achieving order in-take objectives with Egis domains business developers;
- Responsible for approval of pricing and positioning of the company's services;
- Responsible for the negotiation of major project deals;
- Liaise closely with other teams in the Americas region, and especially in the US to share capabilities, intelligence and support services;
- Build Egis image in Canada by collaborating with prospective client, customers, government, community organizations, enforcing business practices. This scope entails the development of new marketing materials;
- Facilitate business growth by working together with clients as well as business partners (suppliers, subcontractors, JV partners, technology providers, etc.);
BD Teams Management
- Act as the operational manager for all Business Development Managers based in Canada and monitor their activities on a weekly basis based on defined objectives;
- Evaluate the performance of Business Development senior executives that report to the CCO;
- Prepare a succession plan for the team and identify high-potential employees for additional development;
BD Budgeting
- Assist with the CEO, COO and CFO in the budgeting and forecast exercise;
- Responsible for the budget related to Business development and Tender Unit;
- Responsible for the overall staffing complement and team management including adjustments when needed (promotion, demotion, hiring, removal) for the BD team;
- Create a high performing team environment enabling employees to reach their full potential and maximize personal and business performance;
Miscellaneous
- Through its great relationship with clients, support the Service line managers in resolving issues;
- Ensure Egis Group code of Ethics & code of Integrity are fully implemented as well as others company standard & rules at all levels (Compliance, HSE, HR Management code...).
The ideal candidate should have:
- More than 10 years’ experience in the field of infrastructure engineering, operations and/or construction;
- A strong entrepreneurial spirit and drive;
- Experience in a senior management/ directorship position;
- Experience in developing, planning and implementing successful BD strategies;
- Strong business development capabilities (from lead generation to contract closing);
- Experience of successfully closing a minimum of 2 major deals (worth +10M€ each)
- Exposure to diverse infrastructure domains;
- Ability to work in matrix organization;
- Team leadership skills;
- Strong integrity;
- International experience in various geographies;
- Ability to work in cross cultural environment;
- Great social skills (especially the ability to be an effective leader and not shy away from making big decisions);
- Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one;
- Leadership (the position requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction);
- Initiative (the position requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges);
- Achievement/Effort (the position requires establishing and maintaining personally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks);
- Fluency in English, fluency in French is considered an asset
