We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chargehand - Traffic Closure to join our team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading and supervising traffic control operations during construction projects and road maintenance activities throughout the city.
- Develop and implement traffic control plans to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow around construction sites and road closures
- Supervise and coordinate a team of traffic control personnel, assigning tasks and ensuring proper execution of traffic management strategies
- Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures
- Liaise with project managers, contractors, and local authorities to coordinate traffic closure activities
- Monitor and maintain traffic control equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and properly deployed
- Respond promptly to any traffic-related incidents or emergencies, implementing appropriate measures to maintain safety
- Prepare detailed reports on traffic control operations, incidents, and any issues encountered
- Stay updated on local traffic laws and regulations, adapting plans as necessary to ensure compliance
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
- Train and mentor team members on best practices in traffic control and safety procedures
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in traffic management or a related field
- Previous supervisory experience in leading traffic control teams
- Thorough knowledge of traffic control planning and implementation strategies
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures in construction environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, project stakeholders, and the public
- Proven problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
- Proficiency in using traffic control equipment and technologies
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid traffic control certification (e.g., MUTCD certification)
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Familiarity with construction industry practices and standards
- Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations specific to Dubai and the UAE
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as project demands require
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus
