About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chargehand - Carpenter to join our dynamic construction team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a Chargehand - Carpenter, you will lead and supervise a team of carpenters while ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards on various construction projects throughout the city.
- Oversee and coordinate carpentry work on construction sites, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to plan and execute carpentry projects
- Assign tasks to team members and provide guidance and support as needed
- Perform advanced carpentry work, including framing, finishing, and custom woodworking
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment
- Monitor and maintain inventory of materials and supplies
- Conduct regular quality checks and inspections of completed work
- Collaborate with other trades and project managers to coordinate work schedules and resolve issues
- Enforce safety regulations and best practices on the job site
- Train and mentor junior carpenters to develop their skills and expertise
- Prepare progress reports and communicate project status to management
What do we need from you
- Minimum 5 years of experience as Chargehand in the Bridge Construction Industry
- Advanced carpentry skills and proficiency in various woodworking techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
- Extensive knowledge of carpentry tools, equipment, and materials
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry preferred
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA)
- Thorough understanding of construction industry standards, building codes, and regulations
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to different project sites within Dubai
- Valid UAE driver's license preferred
