Egis is a global leader in the transition to a low-carbon built environment. As part of our accelerating ESG agenda, we are seeking a Carbon Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in embedding decarbonisation strategies across our major infrastructure projects in Europe and Africa. You will focus on the practical delivery of carbon modelling and reduction analysis, working within multidisciplinary engineering teams to drive low-carbon decision making from concept through to delivery. You will also support our corporate journey to PAS 2080 standards across all of our projects.
This role can be based with our team in London (UK), Warsaw (Poland) or Kyiv (Ukraine).
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Delivery: Lead Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCA) and lifecycle analysis, producing high-quality models and technical reports for client deliverables.
- Design Integration: Partner with engineers to identify practical carbon reduction opportunities, focusing on material optimisation and construction efficiencies.
- Standards & Accreditation: Act as the custodian for our PAS 2080 accreditation in the UK, ensuring all methodologies align with global best practices.
- Strategic Growth: Support the development of internal carbon tools and lead the business in integrating carbon management into the project value chain.
- BREEAM Excellence: Manage sustainability performance through the BREEAM Infrastructure framework to achieve high-value project ratings.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Professional Background: Experience in carbon management preferably in an environmental consultancy, serving the infrastructure or engineering sectors.
- Technical Mastery: Proven experience in Optioneering & Baseline Setting (comparing design variants) and 5/6D BIM Integration (extracting data for Cost + Carbon modelling).
- Software & Standards: Proficiency in One Click LCA and a deep understanding of PAS 2080, ISO 14064, and Greenhouse Gas accounting.
- Regulatory Context: Familiarity with the EU Taxonomy and regional "Green Procurement" rules across Europe and Africa.
- Registered BREEAM Infrastructure Assessor (or a clear commitment to becoming one).
- Membership of a sustainability professional body or working towards one such as ISEP.
Personal Characteristics
- Strong communicator: An analytical thinker who can translate complex carbon data into meaningful insights for clients and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborator: A natural team player who builds strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams to solve complex design challenges.
- Problem solver: Results-oriented with a high level of accuracy and a "hands on" approach to technical modelling and reporting.
- Professional: Highly organised and capable of prioritising multiple consultancy tasks to deliver on time and within budget.
