About the Role

We are now seeking an experienced Building Engineering Manager to lead our Building Structures function in New Zealand, providing strong operational, technical and people leadership while driving business performance and client outcomes.

This role can be based in Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the New Zealand Building discipline, providing strong operational, technical and people leadership
  • Allocating and managing resources to meet project demands, optimise utilisation and deliver business outcomes
  • Providing technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, ensuring high-quality, compliant and innovative solutions
  • Overseeing the planning, delivery and financial performance of significant projects within the discipline
  • Driving a proactive business development culture, supporting bids, promoting team capabilities and strengthening client relationships
  • Ensuring consistent project delivery excellence, including quality, safety, cost and schedule performance
  • Engaging, motivating and developing team members through coaching, feedback and performance leadership
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and other regions to support efficient, integrated service delivery
  • Monitoring market trends and discipline performance, providing insights and updates to the Director – Engineering NZ
  • Championing safety, inclusion and a positive team culture where people feel supported and empowered.

What do we need from you

  • Minimum 15 years’ professional experience in Structural Engineering in a consultancy setting or a related discipline
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineering New Zealand
  • Bachelor of Engineering (minimum 4-year degree) accredited by a recognised national engineering body at Professional Engineer level
  • Proven experience across design, project management, and project director roles
  • Sector experience including health, commercial, industrial, and government projects
  • Demonstrated ability to lead tenders and support business development activities
  • Strong commercial acumen and client-facing capability
