About the Role

The Head – Roads/ Bridges/ Geotechnical/ Highways will provide strategic leadership and technical direction for transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, expressways, roads, bridges, tunnels, and geotechnical engineering works. The role is responsible for driving business growth, project delivery excellence, engineering innovation, client engagement, team development, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

The incumbent will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, oversee project execution from concept to completion, and build strong relationships with government agencies, private clients, contractors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the business strategy for Roads, Highways, Bridges, and Geotechnical engineering services.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across public and private sector infrastructure projects.
  • Drive growth and profitability of the transportation infrastructure business.
  • Establish long-term relationships with clients, government authorities, concessionaires, and industry partners.
  • Contribute to company-wide strategic planning and infrastructure business expansion.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical oversight for:
    • Highways and expressways
    • Urban roads and transportation networks
    • Bridges, flyovers, viaducts, and interchanges
    • Geotechnical investigations and foundation engineering
    • Pavement engineering and rehabilitation programs
    • Slope stabilization and earth-retaining structures
    • Tunnels and underground infrastructure (where applicable)
  • Ensure adherence to international and local engineering standards and codes.
  • Lead design reviews, value engineering initiatives, and technical governance processes.
  • Promote innovation and adoption of digital engineering tools, BIM, GIS, and smart infrastructure technologies.

Project Delivery Management

  • Direct multiple large-scale infrastructure projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within budget, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Review design deliverables and approve critical engineering decisions.

Business Development & Client Management

  • Lead proposal preparation, technical presentations, and bid submissions.
  • Support prequalification processes and major tender opportunities.
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, and client engagements.
  • Drive repeat business and client satisfaction initiatives.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Build capability within highways, bridge, and geotechnical disciplines.
  • Manage resource planning and workforce development.
  • Establish performance objectives and succession planning initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, safety, and technical excellence.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Champion health, safety, environmental, and sustainability objectives.
  • Implement quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Oversee technical audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Additional certifications in project management (PMP, PRINCE2) are advantageous.

What do we need from you

  • 12+ years of experience in road infrastructure management, transportation planning, or related field
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale infrastructure projects from conception to completion
  • Strong knowledge of road design standards, construction methodologies, and maintenance best practices
  • Expertise in traffic management systems, urban mobility solutions, and transportation planning
  • Demonstrated experience with budget management, financial planning, and cost control
  • Proficiency in data analysis and ability to interpret transportation metrics and performance indicators
  • Excellent project management skills with experience using project management tools and methodologies
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing technical teams
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, safety standards, and environmental considerations in road infrastructure
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and mapping technologies (preferred)
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design and planning software (preferred)
  • Familiarity with smart transportation technologies and sustainable infrastructure solutions (preferred)
  • Experience working in the Indian transportation sector or with similar regulatory environments (preferred)
