Overall Purpose
The primary objective of an Associate is to achieve excellence in design while properly representing the company and its design philosophy. The role serves to provide a primary point of contact for all design related issues involving clients and external consultants. Further, the role is also responsible for managing the architectural design team/s on one or more simultaneously projects, and ensuring smooth coordination from all disciplines to ensure an appropriate, high quality architectural product is delivered on time and within the outline budget.
Key Objectives
· Evaluate, confirm, document, monitor and control the client brief
· Effective coordination of all company disciplines, i.e. Architecture, Landscape, 3D Visualisation, MEP and Interior Design
· Effective design coordination and promotion of design quality
· Act as the day-to-day point of contact for the client, all external consultants and other disciplines
· Management of the architectural team
· Management and coordination of internal and external changes into main project
· Establishment, monitoring and maintenance of project milestones
· Monitor and control the budget in conjunction with the Principal / Director
· Monitor and control fees in conjunction with the company Principal / Director
· Ensure smooth transition between design team and project team
· Ensure smooth transition between project team and post-contract team
· Ensure statutory requirements are fulfilled throughout the project
· Ensure QA/QC procedures are properly implemented by the project team
Key Responsibilities
1. Effective management of the Design Process
· Produce high quality design work in line with the 10 Design Philosophy
· Ownership and responsibility for the maintaining the client brief
· Thorough research into the design brief and subject matter
· Produce sketches, options, diagrams etc to effectively communicate the design options, opportunities and challenges that the client needs to be aware of
· Deliver the designs effectively and in a timely manner
2. Effective management of the team
· Effective team management with clear communication, clearly identified tasks and targets
· Encouragement and support of team and personal development
· Acknowledgement of individual qualities and allocation of roles to suit qualities and abilities
· Monitors the day-to-day performance of staff under their direction. Reports to the Principal / Director any matters which might affect the company’s reputation, standard of service, efficiency or profitability
· Acknowledgement of experience and need for additional experience where required
3. Effective coordination
· When required in the terms of appointment, establish, chair and record minutes for project team, coordination and architectural team meetings
· Ensure effective integration of client requirements into project, implementing change control procedures where appropriate
· Ensure full coordination with all disciplines and consultants. Ensure effective integration of external consultant’s requirements into project, implementing change control procedures where appropriate
· Check drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and effective coordination between other disciplines and consultants

· Monitor architectural team output, and where applicable check other disciplines and consultants output to ensure design quality is maintained
· Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements throughout the project

· Execute specific management, marketing, technical and quality related tasks as requested at the monthly meetings
· Ensure overall quality of the design service provided to clients
· Review project status with Principals / Directors for projects under their control
· Ability to manage multiple projects and project teams at one time
4. Effective day-to-day point of contact for client, external consultants and other disciplines
· Assists in selection of consultants and prepares consultant agreements
· Reviews and approves consultant invoices
· Provides effective client liaison and day-to-day point of contact
· Attend client meetings as required
· Provide effective point of contact for external consultants
· Management of distribution of information to appropriate discipline and team members
5. Effective Management and coordination of internal and external changes into main project
· Management of distribution of information to appropriate discipline and team members
· Advise the Authorised Person (AP) when AP services are required
6. Quality Control
· Auditing duties when requested by Quality Manager
· Liaise with Quality Manager concerning the implementation of external auditing procedures
· Attend training workshops organised by the Quality Manager
· Attends quality management and technical group meetings as requested
Education and Training
· Degree educated – RIBA Parts 1, 2 and 3 or equivalent
· Registered architect – ARB or equivalent in country of origin
· RIBA or equivalent membership preferred
· Project Management experience preferred
· Excellent design skills
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook)
· Excellent command of written and spoken English
Experience
· At least 10 years experience
· No less than 5 years experience acting in a management position within a consultancy
· Previous experience in an office environment working as part of a team is preferred
