We are looking for an Assistant Regional Tax Manager with a background in international tax, strong communication skills and a “can do” attitude, as well as an experience in engaging with stakeholders from different disciplines and cultures. The role will be responsible for the tax affairs in APAC and report to the Regional Tax Manager/APAC.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
GENERAL
- Working closely with local accounting teams to ensure tax compliance within the Region
- Providing tax support to various stakeholders including finance and business teams
- Supporting the implementation of the Group tax strategy within the Region
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Supporting Regional Tax Manager and coordinating with local teams to ensure all tax compliance obligations are fulfilled within the Region with proper retention of tax documents
- Reviewing tax returns and cooperating with local accounting teams and external firms to ensure accurate tax filings
- Supporting Regional Tax Manager and local teams on handling tax enquiries and tax audits within the Region
- Reviewing and improving tax accounting, especially corporate income tax provisioning and reporting on a regular basis
- Supporting the development and implementation of internal tax system (in Oracle system)
- Working with stakeholders, including external tax advisers, operational and finance teams, to identify and address tax risks and opportunities and implement improvements
- Assisting in the design and implementation of transfer pricing policy and ensuring the timely completion of local TP filing and reporting
- Contributing to the Group tax reporting (incl. Country by country report, Pillar 2 assessment and reporting, etc.)
Tax Advisory
- Assisting in preparing clear, practical and business focused advice on the tax implications of business tenders and projects, and addressing ad hoc taxation queries from the business teams
- Supporting, in close coordination with the Group tax department and external advisers, M&A projects (incl. tax due diligence, tax structuring, tax integration of targets)
- Providing tax support on specific projects, including financing, cash repatriation, entity rationalization, etc., as well as other ad hoc tasks
- Monitoring tax updates and assessing the impacts on the business within the Region
Requirements
- 4~8 years of tax experiences either from international professional firms (tax team) or in-house regional tax team in multinational companies or a combination (exposures to Australia / New Zealand / Thailand / Philippines tax regime will be a plus)
- Degree in Tax/Accounting is a must with the professional qualification (CPA, CTA or equivalent)
- Communication in English is a must for regional role and any other language will be a plus
- Knowledge in engineering business will be a plus
- The role will be based in Metro Manila, Philippines
- This position will require travel within APAC (est. 10%)
