About Us

The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London’s state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.


About the Role

The Assistant Project Manager supports the delivery of the Electrical, Mechanical, Public Health, Fire, Telecoms and BEMs design associated with the Old Oak Common Station Project, one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure developments and a key interchange for High Speed 2.

Working as part of the project management team, the role assists in coordinating design, engineering, and stakeholder activities to ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with quality and regulatory requirements.

The Assistant Project Manager provides day-to-day support in project planning, programme monitoring, reporting, and risk management. The role involves close collaboration with contractors, consultants, and client representatives to track progress, resolve issues, and maintain effective communication across the project.

Responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of project documentation, monitoring key milestones, supporting commercial and change management processes, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

This role is suited to a proactive and detail-oriented professional with experience in large infrastructure or construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will contribute to the successful delivery of a nationally significant transport hub at Old Oak Common, gaining exposure to complex programme management, stakeholder engagement, and multidisciplinary project delivery within a major UK infrastructure programme.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage a multi-disciplinary design team to deliver design on time, on budget and to a sufficiently level of quality and detail to meet project objectives.
  • Responsible for compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and championing the Health and Safety culture, resolving arising issues or escalating as appropriate and ensuring safe delivery in line with the corporate safety vision. Undertake safety tours for all on site works.
  • Responsible for complex internal and external stakeholder engagement/management. Agree project requirements with the Senior Project Manager & Engineering Lead to ensure that business objectives are met.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of project governance, reporting and control structures, with issues, risks and decisions escalated through the agreed Governance arrangements as appropriate.
  • Assist with achieving procurement approvals in line with, and linked to, the accepted programme.
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative, professional and pro-active working relationship with delivery contractors/partners’ project management and site teams to ensure safe and successful delivery of project requirements
  • Working with the dedicated Interface management team Identify and manage any interfaces and dependencies between the assigned project and other ongoing network activities/projects.
  • Working with the dedicated Commercial management ensure that budgets are set and reported against as well as identifying any means of driving efficiency and mitigating the cost impact of risks.
  • Effectively manage downstream NEC3 Option C Contracts with 3rd party consultants to ensure alignment to the wider programme, budgets and priorities.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day non-technical management of the multi-disciplinary design team.

What do we need from you

  • Rail experience is essential
  • Relevant experience in project management and delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects
  • Contract management experience (NEC3)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • General knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations
  • Capable of building collaborative relationships
  • Excellent commercial and financial understanding and knowledge
  • Desirable: Membership of the Association for Project Management or other professional body
  • Desirable: A degree or equivalent
  • Desirable: Aphex planning experience
