Within Egis group, the "Consulting and Operations" Business Line offers a continuum of services from strategy (pre-project) through engineering to operations and maintenance. We operate mainly in the mobility services sector - motorways, public transport, car parks - aeronautics, real estate and urban planning. Asset management is at the heart of our business, and we take a long-term view in everything we do. Conseil et Exploitation has the particular distinction of operating 20 airports and 29 road companies, as well as being involved in 20 concessions.
Within the Business Line Consulting & Operation, the Service Line Airport Operation & Maintenance contributes to the operation of 20 airports spread across France and Overseas (8), Europe (4), Africa (6) and South America (2). In most cases, Egis acts within a consortium that manages an airport operating company that holds a concession or public service delegation. Within these companies, Egis acts as the reference airport operator and sets up a Technical Service Agreement (TSA) enabling airports to benefit from Egis' expertise in many areas (financial management, B2B and B2C communications, route development, technical studies, ESG, etc…).
The Route Development Director reports to the Director of Airport Operation & Maintenance.
He/She is responsible for the route development strategy and its implementation at the airports operated by Egis.
He/She carries out traffic analysis and traffic forecasts, ad hoc route analysis and commercial proposals for airlines, both as part of the development of the route network at existing airports and as part of the process of prospecting for new airports to manage. as part of the development of our offers with a view to expanding our portfolio of airports.
In these roles, he is assisted by a colleague, currently in charge of airports in Africa.
He/She can rely on a thorough knowledge of the commercial practices of airlines, their needs and their expectations. He/She will have to comply with the existing legal requirements and Egis' code of business conduct and ethics.
His/Her global responsibilities are directed at two targets:
- Elaboration of aeronautical development plans for the prospecting projects:
In this context of developing the portfolio of airports operated by Egis, He/She will be responsible for:
- Analyzing the various traffic components (passengers, cargo, movements) of the targeted airports, their catchment areas, the competitive context and the leakage rate;
- Providing with traffic forecast based on industry drivers, historical trends and development plans;
- Providing with aeronautical revenues forecast, based on tariffs benchmark, historical trends and industry practices, incentives schemes.
- Design a route development strategy for the targeted airports, possibly including a direct contact with airlines to get their views and development objectives;
- Providing with the deliverables related the aeronautical development plans requested in the offers;
- Participating in the offer steering committees led by the bid director and contribute to optimizing the offer through a strategic vision and improvement proposals.
All these missions might be performed in-house or subcontracted to consultancies (sponsors and/or lenders advisors). In the latter case, He/She will supervise and challenge the consultancies’ deliverables.
- Implementation of aeronautical development plans for the existing airports:
In respect of the specific aeronautical development strategy of each airport operated by Egis, He/She will be responsible for:
- Being fully familiar with the Egis airport network: strengths, weaknesses, threats, opportunities, traffic structures, capacities, catchment areas, local political context, aeronautical development strategy and targets, etc, for each of the airports operated by Egis.
- Designing and implementing a route development strategy at each airport that does not have its own CCO.
- Assisting and advising the airport CCOs in the design and implementation of their route development strategy, if needed and upon request.
- Implementing and leading a working group gathering the CCOs of Egis airports to share the best practices in route development.
- Providing with route business cases to airlines.
- In consultation with the Marketing and Communication Department, prepare the budget for the DR and ensure it is managed.
- Maintaining regular contacts with airlines, presenting Egis airport portfolio, route business cases and initiating discussions and negotiations.
- Participating in the various Route Development trade fairs and optimize the return on investment through intensive preparation and efficient participation.
- Regularly reporting on the actions carried out, the results obtained, the prospects for development and the actions to come to the Airport O&M Director, the headquarter airport O&M team and the General Managers of the airports concerned.
Both processes imply for the Route Development Director:
- Managing the employee assigned to the role by setting relevant and rewarding objectives, evaluating their performance and assigning tasks related to the role;
- Being closely connected to the airlines in order to be up to date with market trends, strategies, alliances, needs and expectations;
- Being updated with airlines strategies and market, with air transport drivers, with consumers’ behaviors and travel trends.
- Master Degree in engineering or business
- Minimum of 10 years proven experience as airport or airline route network developer,
- Familiarity with all business functions including airlines strategy, airlines business model, airlines operational and financial needs and expectations,
- Expertise in data analysis and reporting,
- robust proficiency in business cases designing,
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills,
- Excellent organizational and leadership ability,
- Analytical mind,
- Problem-solving aptitude.
- Fluent in English. Ability to speak French is a plus
