About the Role

We are seeking an Acoustics Team Leader to play a key role in shaping and delivering acoustics capability across major UK infrastructure programmes.

You will lead acoustic inputs on large-scale, multidisciplinary projects, including rail, highways, and other major linear infrastructure, working at the forefront of planning, consenting, and delivery. This includes involvement in complex infrastructure schemes.

You will operate within a collaborative environment, working alongside planners, engineers, and environmental specialists to deliver integrated, practical solutions that support successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Delivery

  • Lead the delivery and technical assurance of noise and vibration assessments across major infrastructure projects
  • Provide technical direction and sign-off
  • Develop innovative and pragmatic mitigation solutions aligned with regulatory and client requirements
  • Act as a trusted technical authority within multidisciplinary teams

Strategic Advisory and Client Engagement

  • Provide high-level acoustics advice to clients on risk, constraints, and consenting strategy
  • Work closely with key infrastructure clients, contractors and developers.
  • Support project strategy through early-stage input and ongoing advisory during delivery
  • Contribute to planning and examination processes, including stakeholder engagement and technical submissions

Leadership and Capability Growth

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a growing acoustics team
  • Drive technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and innovation
  • Support recruitment and capability growth aligned to business priorities
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture

Integration and Delivery Focus

  • Work seamlessly within multidisciplinary project teams, integrating acoustics into design and environmental strategy
  • Support delivery teams in managing noise and vibration risks during construction
  • Help translate technical requirements into practical, buildable solutions

What do we need from you

About You

You bring a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, and delivery focus, with experience gained on complex infrastructure projects.

Essential

  • Degree in Acoustics or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in environmental acoustics, including major infrastructure projects
  • Proven track record delivering EIA and consenting support (DCO / planning)
  • Experience working on linear infrastructure (rail, highways, energy corridors)
  • Strong understanding of UK noise and vibration standards and guidance
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary inputs and manage technical delivery

Desirable

  • Experience working on nationally significant infrastructure projects
  • Experience contributing to examinations, hearings, or expert evidence
  • Chartered or working toward chartership (e.g. MIOA, CEnv, CSci)
  • Experience with relevant modelling tools (e.g. CadnaA, SoundPLAN)
