About Us

Company Description

Egis is a leading global architecture, consulting, construction engineering and operating firm. We work side by side with clients to build a more balanced, sustainable and resilient world.

Omnia Projects, part of the Egis Group, are a UK-based engineering consultancy specialising in electricity Transmission and Distribution (T&D) providing engineering, project management and technical assurance.

About the Role

The Opportunity

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and shaping future electricity network investment projects across the distribution network.

Working within the Specification & Design function, you will be responsible for the front-end engineering, feasibility assessment, optioneering and development of EHV infrastructure projects, ensuring schemes are technically sound, fully specified and ready for successful delivery.

The role combines strong technical engineering expertise with project development skills and requires a thorough understanding of substation plant, network infrastructure and engineering standards across voltage levels from 11kV up to 132kV.

Projects will include network reinforcement, substation asset replacement, customer connections and new infrastructure developments at Primary, Bulk Supply Point and Supply Point Substations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and define EHV infrastructure projects from early-stage concept through to delivery-ready status.
  • Lead feasibility studies, engineering assessments and optioneering activities.
  • Develop technical specifications for substation plant replacement, reinforcement and customer connection schemes.
  • Produce project scopes, technical requirements, cost estimates and delivery strategies.
  • Identify and assess engineering risks, constraints and opportunities during project development.
  • Coordinate engineering surveys, investigations and stakeholder inputs required to support project definition.
  • Support business case development and investment justification activities.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements and network policies.
  • Provide technical guidance and challenge throughout the project development process.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure proposed solutions meet operational and customer requirements.
  • Support the handover of fully specified projects into delivery teams.

About You

You are a technically strong electrical engineer with significant experience of EHV substations and electricity network infrastructure.

You enjoy solving engineering problems, developing practical solutions and influencing projects in their early stages before construction begins.

You are comfortable evaluating multiple technical options, managing stakeholder input and producing clear, deliverable engineering proposals.
