About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia operating within the Project Management Office (PMO), This is a key role responsible for managing and overseeing the financial aspects of large landscape projects. The primary focus is on reviewing costs produced by external consultants, ensuring alignment with established budgets, and implementing effective cost control measures. The Cost engineer also plays a crucial role in handling ad hoc projects instructed by clients, applying expertise in cost management, change management, and value engineering. 

Cost Review and Analysis: 

  • Collaborate with external consultants to review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost reports, and other financial documents related to large landscape projects. 
  • Analyze cost submissions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements. 

Budget Management: 

  • Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to establish project budgets. 
  • Monitor and control project costs, providing regular updates on budget status and potential deviations. 

Cost Control: 

  • Implement robust cost control measures to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints. 
  • Identify and address cost overruns or potential issues, proposing corrective actions as needed. 
  • Change Management: 
  • Assess and manage changes to project scope, specifications, and designs in terms of their impact on project costs. 
  • Collaborate with the design team to evaluate change requests and provide cost estimates. 

Value Engineering: 

  • Implement value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality and design intent. 
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in project designs and processes. 

Tendering for Construction: 

  • Collaborate with the design and project management teams to integrate cost-related requirements into tendering documentation. 
  • Review and evaluate contractor proposals, ensuring alignment with project budgets. 

Ad Hoc Project Cost Management: 

  • Provide expertise in cost management for ad hoc projects instructed by clients. 
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate cost estimates and budgets for unique project requirements. 

Reporting and Documentation: 

  • Generate detailed cost reports and financial documentation for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Provide regular updates on project financials, highlighting key cost-related metrics. 

Cost Risk Assessment: 

  • Conduct risk assessments related to project costs, identifying potential financial risks. 
  • Develop strategies to mitigate cost-related risks and uncertainties. 

What do we need from you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Finance, or a related field. 

  • Professional certification in cost management (e.g., Certified Cost Professional) is preferred. 

Experience: 

  • 10+ years of experience in cost management within the design or construction industry. 

  • Proven track record of successfully managing costs for large landscape projects. 

  • Familiarity with cost estimating software and tools.
