About the Role

The BIM Modeler for Utility and Drainage will create detailed 2D and 3D models using mainly Civil 3D and Autodesk Inventor for storm drainage improvements, dry and wet utility networks and corridors along with setting up and customizing object, label, pipe network styles and configure part lists. This work is essential for the pavement restoration projects and facility upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive 3D models, profile and cross-sections for underground dry and wet utilities, including storm drainage systems, sanitary sewers, water distribution and culverts, tanks and catch basins, using Civil 3D, and AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with the Civil and Utility Lead and engineers to accurately model existing, stage phasing and proposed site servicing, grading, and drainage designs.
  • Ensure models adhere to municipal infrastructure standards, provincial codes and project-specific requirements.
  • Produce detailed plans, profiles, and sections for construction and regulatory approvals.
  • Conduct clash detection to coordinate utility and drainage systems with other infrastructure disciplines, such as civil-grade separation, foundations and electrical duct banks.
  • Maintain model integrity, accurate and up-to-date models reflecting the phased construction and turnover of geometrical and non-geometrical asset data.
  • Ensure accurate representation of as-built conditions upon project completion.

What do we need from you

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a civil modeling role, with a strong focus on underground utilities and site development.
  • Mandatory proficiency with Civil 3D, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Desktop Connector, Bluebeam Revu; experience with Dynamo for Civil 3D, Revit, StormCAD / SewerCAD / CivilStorm, Navisworks Manage, InfraWorks, and Bentley InRoads/OpenRoads is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated experience modeling storm water management systems, pressure pipes, and gravity-fed networks for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Skilled in integrating utility data from various sources (GIS, as-built drawings, survey data) into coordinated BIM or CAD environments.
  • Experienced in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling for stormwater management, surface drainage, and combined sewer systems using industry-standard software.
  • Able to analyze flow, capacity, and detention systems to optimize drainage infrastructure for flood control and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with local and provincial regulations and standards including ICAO Annex 14, OPSD, MOE guidelines, CSA.
  • Proficient in setting up and customizing object style and label styles, pipe network plan, profile and cross-sections, configure part lists and sheet management.
  • Effective cross-disciplinary coordination; Strong communication and documentation practices; Self-directed with a continuous learning mindset and proven record in deadline-driven environments
