About the Role

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing oversight, coordination and construction supervision support for electrical works across AlUla infrastructure and development projects. The role ensures that electrical works are executed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, applicable Saudi regulations, authority requirements, international standards, project quality requirements, and approved construction programmes.

The position will work closely with the Resident Engineer, Project Manager, contractors, supervision consultants, designers, utility providers (SEC), authorities and other engineering disciplines to facilitate the successful delivery, testing, commissioning, and handover of electrical infrastructure.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide senior technical oversight of electrical works during the construction, testing, commissioning and handover stages.
  • Sanity checks electrical drawings, specifications, method statements, material submissions, shop drawings, and technical proposals for compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor installation of electrical infrastructure including HV/MV/LV networks, substations, transformers, switchgear, distribution systems etc.  
  • Coordinate electrical works with civil, utilities, roads, architectural, mechanical, ICT and other project disciplines.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with approved IFC drawings, specifications, approved materials, and relevant standards.
  • Coordinate interfaces with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and other relevant utility providers and authorities as required.
  • Support the Project Manager/Resident Engineer in facilitating technical and authority approvals necessary for construction.
  • Monitor contractor progress against the approved programme and identify electrical activities that may affect project milestones or critical interfaces.
  • Monitor testing and commissioning activities and verify that required inspections, tests and documentation are completed before handover.
  • Review electrical snagging/punch-list items and monitor their closure.
  • Support review of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing and commissioning records and final handover documentation.
  • Maintain professional communication with the Client, contractors, consultants and relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform other electrical engineering duties required for successful delivery of the assigned AlUla projects.

What do we need from you

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably involving major infrastructure, utilities, and development projects.
  • Strong experience in electrical infrastructure including HV/MV/LV distribution, substations, transformers, street lighting, external networks and associated systems.
  • Demonstrable experience working within PMC, PMCM, engineering consultancy or construction supervision environments.
  • Previous experience on major infrastructure or multidisciplinary development programmes is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in Saudi Arabia and/or the GCC is required.
  • Good knowledge of SEC requirements, Saudi Building Code and applicable Saudi authority requirements.
  • Good knowledge of relevant international standards including IEC, IEEE, NFPA and BS standards, as applicable.
  • Experience with testing, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems.
  • Professional engineering registration or membership of a recognized engineering institution is preferred.
  • Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE), where applicable, is preferred.
